The "Tanne" was founded in 1868 as a small pub for local loggers. Over the past 140 years "Hotel Tanne" has grown significantly. Below are some details of how the hotel has passed through the generations.

• Johannes Möhrle (1824-1895), Innkeeper from 1868
• Johannes Möhrle (1857-1906), Innkeeper from 1888
• Ernst Möhrle (1890-1974), Innkeeper from 1911. As a young man he learned the baker's trade and his pretzels were known throughout the Tonbach valley. His wife Marie set the tone for the house with her unique personality. Her direct humour could sometimes be misunderstood and she often ended up "stepping on toes". In one incident a Professor left early when in response to his request for the Schwäbisch speciality "Buba-Spitzle" (Schupfnudeln) she informed him that she needed to measure his manhood.
• Rudi Möhrle, (1938) Innkeeper from 1966 - 2002. Rudi ran the hotel with his wife Gisela who was born into the hotel trade (Hotel Rosengarten in Baiersbronn). They have 3 children: Bärbel, Christl and Jörg.

Jörg Möhrle finished his Chef's training at Hotel Bareiss a five star resort in Mittetal.

After gaining experience in various prestigous kitchens throughout Europe he received his Masters Degree from the Bavarian trade board in 1999 in recognition of his outstanding achievements . On top of that he received a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the Bavarian Hotel School.

In 1999 he married his lovely wife Jutta, originally from Austria. She brings to the "Tanne" her charm as well as a degree in Tourism Business Management. The wedding was celebrated in the "Tanne" in grand style. Their first daughter Sofie was born on June 18th, 1999 and their second Katharina, was born on January 2nd 2003.

After a Management-Trainee-Program in Napa-Valley, California, Jörg, Jutta & Sofie returned home to their family in Autumn 2001. Since then the two generations of the Möhrle Family have been working together with much dedication to further the growth of Hotel Tanne. On January 1st, 2003 Jörg officially took over the business from his father and became the fifth generation of Innkeepers within the Möhrle family.
